  • Step 1 – Set up google alerts to have a view of friends and follow the oil and gas news for Nigeria.

  • Step 2 – Determine where to start or invest in- Have a clear business plan- Research and conclude on which part of the value chain you wish to specialize. Upstream, Midstream or Downstream.

  • Step 3 – Business Registration- Obtain your certificate of incorporation from the corporate affair commission of Nigeria.

  • Step 4 – Advisory from the regulator/government agency- Visit the department of petroleum resources for advisory guide on your investment plan

  • Step 5 – Capital base for your investment- Do you have the capital needed to start this business? How much do you plan to invest? How big do you plan to startup?

 

4. How can we get real seller of Nigeria crude to supply our refinery outside Nigeria monthly?

Nigeria through its National oil company NNPC has annual tender for the sale of crude oil and opportunity for importation of refined products. The request for proposals are usually published in national and international newspapers. Check NNPC, PPMC and PPPRA websites for guidelines and criteria for eligibility.

  • Upstream involves the exploration process of crude oil and identifying oil well for extraction activities in the sector.

  • Midstream involves transporting of explored crude (by pipeline, rail, barge, oil tanker or truck), storing and marketing of the crude to international market.

  • Downstream involves refining of the crude oil into petroleum products, marketing and distribution of the product to consumers. Examples are refineries and fuel stations.
